Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd, (CHI Shanghai), former China Shipping Industry (Shanghai Changxing) Co., Ltd. (CIC Changxing Shipyard) was built in 2004, covering a land area of 500,000 m2 and a quay line of 4,242 meters.
The yard is mainly engaged in ship repair, conversion, new building, steel work and offshore projects.
CHI Shanghai is located at China's largest manufacturing base for marine and offshore equipment at the estuary of Yangtze River, Changxing Island, and sits adjacent to the Waigaoqiao container terminals, RORO terminals and Zhanghuabang terminals.
It is the first ship-repair company in the main channel of Yangtze River.
As the first Chinese company in ship-repair industry the yard is certified by class DNV-GL.
