Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS)

Grand Bahama Shipyard is located within the free trade zone of Freeport on Grand Bahama Island, less than 80 miles from the Florida east coast. Grand Bahama Shipyard is strategically positioned for ships on transatlantic crossings, Caribbean and US Eastern seaboard trade. The subtropical climate in the Bahamas means that the average year-round temperatures remain in the 20-27 Celsius range, providing an ideal climate for repairs and conversions with est 330 days of clear weather annually.

Grand Bahama Shipyard offers facilities for the dry-docking and repair of all types of oceangoing vessels. We offer a variety of general ship repair, survey & inspection services including: engineering, steelwork, blasting/coating, mechanical, pipework and electrical. The shipyard operates three floating dry-docks with a maximum lifting capacity of close to 90,000 tons. The deep-water harbor has a minimum depth of 14 meters for entry to the shipyard and a huge expanse of sheltered waters in which the shipyard is sited  

The quality policy of Grand Bahama Shipyard is to provide a service equal to or exceeding the quality standard required by the customer for refitting and repair of all classes of maritime vessels. Providing services of a high standard requires a thorough Quality Assurance system and adherence to procedures, which is common practice at Grand Bahama Shipyard. The yard has been accredited to ISO 9001:2008 by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance since 2003. ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007, ISPS
