ISOGO Works

Yokohama Shipyard/Isogo Works is located in Isogo Ward, Yokohama, at the southern end of Yokohama Bay about 1 hour from Tokyo. With a site area of approximately 385,000m2, Isogo Works is a state-of-the-art shipyard with the largest naval ship repair capacity in eastern Japan.
Isogo builds and repairs diverse types of ships, beginning with naval ships, patrol ships, and other vessels for government agencies, which require advanced technologies, as well as standard ships in the “F Series,” container ships, ferries, and work ships.
Isogo Works was created by bringing together the technologies, human resources, and know-how of three great Japanese shipyards: IHI Tokyo Works, which began in 1853 as Ishikawajima Shipyard and built a large number of naval ships, Sumitomo Heavy Industries Uraga Works, which had the same long tradition and built famous ships such as the sailing ship “Nippon Maru,” and IHI Yokohama Works, which had an impressive record of deliveries centering on commercial ships and large-scale tankers, and constructed the “Idemitus Maru,” which was the first VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) in history and the world’ s largest such vessel when it was completed in 1966.
Making full use of the experience and technologies cultivated up to the present, Isogo Works supplies services that ensure customer satisfaction as one of the main works of Japan Marine United, which was launched as a new company in January 2013.
